On Sunday 26th February twenty five juniors took part in a special Skills Challenge competition, which included a nearest the pin challenge on the “Postage stamp” at Troon on Gavin Abson’s simulator. Afterwards, the Junior Section held their Annual Meeting in the Harold Hilton Lounge.
Around 30 juniors with parents and other close relatives attended the meeting. Immediate past Captain Neil Dalton (standing in for the Captain Elect) with Junior Organiser Phil Marsh, who chaired the meeting, thanked the outgoing Junior Captain Wesley Allmark and introduced the new 2017 Junior Captains Ben Harvey and Hollie Muse who were presented with the Junior Captain’s badge.
The Lady Captain Elect Pauline Hurst presented the prizes for the Skills Challenge competition as well as the recently held half term Team Scramble competition. A raffle was also held which raised £123.20 for junior funds.
Several workshops were set up for further discussion about the fixtures and events planned for the forthcoming season including the Swedish Exchange trip to Marks’ GC near Gothenburg on 25-30 July. Gavin Abson introduced a special new Summer league tournament for the older juniors with handicaps of 28 and under playing off the yellow tees. The new Junior team shirts and long sleeved pullovers introduced last year were again offered for sale to all junior members.
