The Junior Section of the club held their Annual Meeting on Sunday 25th February. Around 30 juniors and their parents and relatives attended the meeting along with the Captain Elect, Rob Howard and Lady Captain Elect, Janet Owen. The Junior Captain for 2018 Sean Kelly was formally appointed and handed the Junior Captain’s badge of office by the Captain Elect.

The Junior section has a busy year ahead with many outside competitions and matches to play in apart from their own fixtures including the Junior Club Championship which will be played over 36 holes on Wednesday 15th August. There will also be an Exchange trip from Marks’ Golf Club in Sweden who will be visiting us for the 3rd time since our junior exchange with them started in 2013. This will take place during the Summer School holidays, 30.7-4.08, when 8 juniors and 2 adults from Marks G C are visiting the club and will be hosted by our junior members and organisers.

A raffle and small sale of various donated items was held to raise money for junior funds and this raised £155. The Junior Committee are grateful to everyone who helped and contributed to this.

Seven junior teams of three players took part in a Skills Challenge competition before the AGM which included, putting, chipping and bunker play. The junior girls excelled at several of the individual skills challenges with Ffion Richardson being the only player to get all of the required three shots out of a bunker, Eva Abernethy was the only player to get one of her bunker shots into the smaller circle target and Evie Clarke was the only one to chip her ball into the hole.
