WLGC JUNIOR TEAMS REACH FINAL OF NEW BCCS MATCH PLAY NATIONAL TOURNAMENT AT STAVERTON PARK G C ON 28-29.9
The BCCS National Junior Golf Match play tournament open to any clubs in England and Wales replaces the previously sponsored British Legion match play competition. Clubs can enter up to 3 teams in the competition with 2 pairings playing a 4BBB match in each round. The matches alternate with home and away draws. The matches are played over 18 holes and the overall result of the two pairings determines the margin of the win or loss. So for example even if one pairing is winning 5&4 they have to carry on and finish the match on the 18th. This might change the outcome of the match, depending on what the result of the other pairing is as the margin of the win or loss for both pairings will determine the final result.

It also means everyone gets to play the full course, which is important for those travelling a long distance to play. We have never in the past got through more than a couple of rounds in this competition.
We entered 2 teams this year and both got through to the quarterfinals. Our B team played at home on Saturday 24.8 in a tough and keenly contested match against Drayton park and won 4-0. Our A team travelled to Bedale GC in Yorkshire this Saturday 31.8 and overwhelmed their opposition winning 13-0.
Both teams are now going to Staverton Park for the finals, which are played on 28-29 September. It would be great to get an all West Lancashire final. We don’t yet know how this will be played but wish both our teams GOOD LUCK.
