Sadly, I wrote this last week but managed not to save the document so have had to start again! You should have had it on Friday! I hope you are all managing to stay well and enjoying the sun!
I am delighted to say, I have good news of various members!
Jackie Rooney has been made a Queens Nurse. I wasn’t exactly sure what this was except I knew it was a huge honour. It says ‘A Queen's Nurse is someone who is committed to high standards of practice and patient-centred care. The title is available to individual nurses who have demonstrated a high level of commitment to patient care and nursing practice’. Congratulations Jackie – well deserved – we are very proud of you!
Mo Collins’ granddaughter Grace was diagnosed with kidney cancer at Easter last year, when she was 7 years old. She was finally given the all-clear in July this year after chemo, radiotherapy, surgery and numerous blood transfusions. The family call her ‘Amazing Grace’ and Mo can now breathe again and think about her golf! What a brave little girl – we wish her well.
Mo Dickson and Jo continue to do well. Mo now has cabin-fever and can’t wait to get her immunisations over and hopefully be able to see family and friends at the end of the month. Jo has been to the hospital today and now has the brace off and can be more mobile. Great news for her!
Bernadette is playing golf and getting out, but she is not ready yet to be in larger groups of people.
Ladies Amateur
Unfortunately, this is a completely ‘Behind closed doors’ event!
It will however be filmed by Sky Sports and Chris will let us know when it will be shown.
The R&A are making all the rules. There are to be no spectators at all. Noone will be allowed on the WLGC site unless they have a specific role. This means you need to collect all your belongings – clubs, shoes, trolley, anything from your locker etc. before it starts.
Lost Property
In an effort to tidy the locker room, I have discovered a great deal of ‘lost property’! There is stuff lying around and a cupboard full of other stuff that looks like it has been there for ages. I was frightened to move shoes as I wasn’t sure if they belonged to people out on the course.
Next Saturday 22/08, I would ask you not to use the locker room so that I know that everything lying around can be moved! As soon as the Amateur is over, we will drag it all out and people can claim anything that belongs to them and then I can dispose of the rest! Start with a clean slate as we begin using the locker room properly again. If you want to look before then, it is all in a cupboard between the toilet and shower room doors. There are also jackets hanging in the main locker room and other belongings in the flower room which have been there for some time.
Picnic Relay - Save the Date
I am thinking of arranging another Picnic Relay on Friday 11th September. If you are interested, please let me know – just a quick message and put the date in your diary. If it is popular there will be more details to follow. Fingers crossed it is dry! If there aren’t many takers, we will give it a miss!
Wishing you well,
