The Liverpool Society of Lady Golf Captains’ Summer Meeting was played at Widnes Golf Club on Friday 20th July, home club of the Captain of Captains for 2018, Carol Bostock. Most of the 21 member clubs were represented by the reigning Lady Captains and several Past Lady Captains who played in the Foursomes Stableford Competition.
Despite some rain on an otherwise very wind still day the scoring was much higher than usual resulting in a c.p.o for all the prize winners.
Our Lady Captain Jan Owen who played with the Immediate Past Captain Pauline Hurst had a wonderful game resulting in a high scoring round of 43 points, which was the winning score on a c.p.o. from Woolton GC. They won the 1st prize and Jackson trophy for the best score of the day.
The Golden Jubilee trophy is awarded for the best combined Club individual Foursomes scorers over the Spring and Summer meetings and WLGC also won this trophy for the very first time with a total score of 72 points. The Lady Captain, Jan Owen also had the best score from WLGC in the Spring Meeting, which was played in May, when she partnered Jackie Bickerstaffe in the Foursomes Stableford competition and returned a score of 29 points.
These two trophies will now be on display at the club in our trophy cabinet until next year’s competitions are held.
