On Saturday March 11th the club held an Indian themed evening to raise funds for Lady Captain's chosen charity, Epilepsy Research. The evening was wonderfully directed by Margaret McDowell as MC. Several of those attending entered into the spirit of the evening by wearing Indian dress. Authentic tabla and harmonium music from Rakesh and Ravish accompanied the delicious buffet meal. Later Desi Nach dancers gave a colourful and energetic display of Bollywood style dancing before coaxing some of the braver members and guests onto the floor for a dance workshop. There were some exceptional performances!
Generous donations had been received for the Auction which was masterfully controlled by John Morris in Indian Prince costume. His amiable and witty approach encouraged some competitive bidding. Members of the Ladies' Golf Committee sold tickets for a very successful Raffle, Wayne Arands donned a new persona and became a very competent caller for Stand Up Bingo and the evening was a great success. Donations from members who did not attend, added to the generosity of those at the event, has resulted in close to £4000 being raised. This is a fantastic response and I would like to thank everyone who gave so generously and worked so hard to make the evening a success.
