Arthur Haver became the professional at West Lancashire

1 January – Arthur Havers, demobilised from the Royal Flying Corps, became the professional at West Lancashire. In 1921, he played for England against America at Gleneagles, and in 1923, he won the Open Championship at Troon, beating Walter Hagen (USA) by one stroke.
