This year marked the Club’s centenary

Highlighted by a Pro-Am golf tournament, and the £4000 event was won by Lionel Platts (Pannal) with a score of 67 strokes. At the Centenary Dinner, the principal guests included Sir Iain Maxwell Stewart, Captain of the R&A, and The Honorable Mr Justice GRW Owen, President of the Royal Montreal Golf Club (also founded in 1873). The guest speaker was Mr Henry Longhurst, who observed that ‘not many clubs in England can boast the existence of 100 years, and I hope the second one hundred years will give as much as fun and happiness to as many people as the first one has’.
