The New Clubhouse

12 June 1961, the present golf course was opened, and on 14 May 1962, the present clubhouse was opened by our President, Mr Brian Whitlock-Blundell. Designed by London architects Tripe & Wakeham and built by Holland & Hannen and Cubitts, nestling among sand dunes, this modern suntrap building, with principal rooms on the first floor and a broad terrace along the north side, commands a fine view of the busy St Georges Channel in the River Mersey.

Plan of the New and Present Course

Designed and laid out, by CK Cotton. There are two loops of 9 holes, with the 9th and 18th greens in front of the clubhouse. TOM SCOTT of Golf Illustrated wrote ‘Mr Cotton has laid out a golf course of great variety and infinite charm!’
